Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS)
The Copernicus Land Monitoring Service provides among others geographical land cover (change), land use, and vegetation state information to a broad range of users. It supports applications in a variety of domains, such as spatial and urban planning, agriculture, and forest management, and consists of five main themes:
Systematic monitoring of vegetation indicators
This mainly comprises a series of qualified bio-geophysical products on the land surface status and evolution. The data are produced globally every ten days at a medium-range spatial resolution, complemented by a long-term time series. The data products are used to monitor vegetation, crops, water cycle, energy budget, and terrestrial cryosphere variables.Land cover and land use mapping
Produces land cover classifications at various levels of detail, both at pan-European and global level. At pan-European level, these classifications are complemented by detailed high-resolution layers on land cover characteristics, such as imperviousness, forests, grassland, water and wetness, and small woody features. At global level, the land cover mapping follows the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO)’s modular-hierarchical Land Cover Classification System.Imagery and reference data
Comprise satellite image mosaic in high and very high resolutions and reference datasets. This includes satellite image mosaic from contributing missions covering Europe, as well as a Sentinel-2 global image mosaic production. In addition, it consists of reference datasets providing homogeneous pan-European coverage of key geospatial themes, such as hydrography and elevation.Thematic hot-spot mapping
Provides tailored and more detailed information on specific areas of interest, known as hot-spots. In the context of the Land Monitoring Service, these are prone to specific environmental challenges. Imagery and reference data provide satellite image mosaic at high and very high resolutions and reference datasets. This includes image mosaics from contributing missions covering the territory of Europe, as well as Sentinel-2 global image mosaics production. Additionally, it comprises reference datasets providing homogeneous pan-European coverage of key geospatial themes, such as hydrography and elevation.European Ground Motion Service
This service provides ground displacement measurements, including landslides and subsidence, as well as infrastructure deformation at millimetre scale.
