Terrascope Introduction
Terrascope is the Belgian Earth Observation Data Space. It provides easy access to Copernicus, PROBA-V, and SPOT-VEGETATION satellite data, products, and services. The access is free and open to all users without restrictions. This allows specialists and non-specialist users to explore the wealth of remote sensing information and build on value-added products and services.
The Terrasope platform includes:
- Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data over Belgium and its surroundings
- Sentinel-2 optical data over mainly Europe and central Africa
- Sentinel-3 SYN VGT and Land Surface Temperature data globally
- Sentinel-5P UV and optical atmospheric gas data globally
- The SPOT-VEGETATION global archive
- The PROBA-V global archive
A standard set of biophysical indicators (NDVI, FAPAR, FCOVER, LAI, CCC, CWC) derived from Sentinel-2 data are offered as value-added data.
Through the Terrascope processing cluster and its Virtual Machines and Notebooks, users have the possibility to obtain derived information products to their specifications. This eliminates the need for data download (and consequential data storage costs) because the directly accessible cluster holds all data. Data integration of products within an application are facilitated through Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) web services. Terrascope is user-centred, so any suggestions for new or enhanced functionality are welcome.
A detailed overview of these products can be found in the following sections:
